I can second what Steve said above. Even though I have been using lunarpages for almost 2 years with multiple website/hosting packages, they still tried to put me through the ringer over getting a third hosting package. Signing up through my logged-in account page for a third package, under the same exact name, and they demand copies of my driver's license and credit card. Even though they go ahead and charge your credit card (which proves verification), they still want me to fax or email them copies of my vulnerable private information. I find this utterly ridiculous and decided today to not renewal on any of my hosting accounts with them. I will be looking for a better solution. Good luck to you all, but be prepared for this type of treatment if you go with lunarpages.

P.S. - I had paid in full upfront for two years on each hosting account. They had no reason to suspect fraud or ask for this information.

I have two hosting accounts with lunarpages over the last 2 years and recently went to add a third. Even after hosting multiple accounts for years, they send me this request.

"Hello,

Before we can approve your new hosting account, please fax the following into our offices:

1.) Credit card used to sign up the account
2.) Photo ID of the person's name on the credit card

Please fax this to:
ATTN: New Accounts
Fax#: 714-521-8195

Once we receive this information we will immediately process this order.

If you do not have access to a fax machine, you can also scan this information and attach it to this email.

Thank you.

Best regards,

Lydia Ocampo
Lunarpages Web Hosting

Lunarpages.com - Taking Your Site Higher
Phone: 1-714-521-8150

I respond back telling them that I do not give copies of my DL and credit cards across the internet to any company and that's MY policy. I am fully capable of protecting my vulnerable private information.

Do they care??? Aboslutely not.

Next response:

"We like to protect our clients, as well as Lunarpages from any fraudulent activity."

Really so where was this fraudulent activity.

Was it in the fact that I have hosted multiple accounts over years under the same name that is on my credit card. That I have never been a victim of identity theft. That my credit card company (who is obviously inferior to Lunar pages) recognized my name, address, expiration, and cvv/cvc code as accurate????

Give me a F%*&^ break lunarpages. You need to get off your mile-high horse and get back in reality.

PLEASE do yourself a favor and go with someone else.

P.S.- I will be closing out all my accounts as soon as I find a hosting company that is quality and does not have there head up there a$$.

Take care guys and gals.

signed up for hosting today with Lunar. I thought everything was fine and even saw online where they hit my card with the hosting fee. However, later tonight they are now requesting a fax of the credit card and id. So, even though they have my money they will not setup my account until I send this information. When I request a credit they refer to their billing department with no specifics on when I will hear from them on this issue. If you have requirements, state them before you draft my account. This is holding my money hostage. Really sorry way to run a business.

@Happy Lunar Customer, thanks for your sharing. Yes I agree that Lunarpages has great performance as well, otherwise I will not be (am still) hosting with them since 4 years ago.

However, with the price that we are paying them, there are other better alternatives in the industry. Their high price is one thing, the services they're providing at that price is another. To be honest their price is not that high, many web hosts are charging at that same price too. But with that same price I can easily get a host with 24x7 quality support as well as good uptime performance as comparable to Lunarpages. Don't you think it's not just the "cheaper" issue with Lunarpages?

Anyway I will still keep my mind opened to recommend Lunarpages if they enrich their services. But it's just not at this time.

Hello,

While those are fair opinions, I wish you had my experience.

Its no wonder prices are raising in this economy.

You can bet that having all phone representatives in the US and having a stateside based email support staff would be contribute to higher costs too.

I know that my site has been running optimally for years with merely a few, relatively minor issues. Its easy for me to say that Lunarpages is the best host to choose from. Once you reach a live human being you are guaranteed to be served with quality by a professional and any and all of your issues will be addressed. They go above and beyond and show me benefits to my package that i wasnt already aware of. Lunarpages makes sure I gt the full use out of their product that delivers.

One thing to consider, is "cheaper" is not always better!
