JustHost Review: Is JustHost A Reliable & Affordable Web Hosting?
JustHost gives you a free domain name and the plans let you host as many domains as you want. But are they a good, reliable host? Let’s take a look under the hood so you can decide.
JustHost is an Endurance Brand
JustHost is directly managed by BlueHost, the oldest player in the arena of website hosting and one of the largest. This provides many advantages to JustHost because BlueHost can offer better in-house support to both brands. The two brands also share a data center located in Provo, Utah, USA. That can be a good thing – or a bad thing. In August, 2013, during server maintenance all the servers went down and the websites for customers of both brands went down for a good part of the day, as well. On the upside, the services and features of each are exactly the same while JustHost is offered at lower price, making it a better value.
JustHost offers shared website hosting, where all their customers’ files and data are saved to a single, or series, of servers as their flagship product. There are upgrades available to virtual private server or dedicated server hosting, although these services aren’t prominently advertised. JustHost has received several awards for their website hosting service. For an economical website hosting service, they enjoy a pretty good reputation amongst tech reviewers and customers.
JustHost Offers a Lot for a Little Price
* As you may have known, unlimited can never be limitless. According to the JustHost’s Term of Service, their offer of “unlimited” disk space and bandwidth is subjected to using or abusing resources beyond what would be expected of a personal or small business website – a condition that is very common among hosting companies. So if you plan on using a lot of disk space and bandwidth, you need to either be sure you don’t violate their ToS or go with an upgraded plan.

OK, so most of those features are standard with other web hosts, too. But, in addition, JustHost provides:
This makes JustHost a good choice both for newbies, who need help getting their first website set up, and experienced website designers, who want the ability to customize the look and functionality of their sites.
JustHost Hosting: 99.98% Uptime Guarantee with Site Backup Pro Included
Your site data is backed up from the server, but don’t expect to be able to access it any time you wish. JustHost will restore your site completely in case of catastrophe, but they don’t provide unlimited access to the backed up files. You can, however, use Site Backup Pro, which is included with your account, to schedule your own backups (highly recommended).
As for uptime, JustHost claims their customers’ sites are online 99.98% of the time. This is about as close to perfect as you can get. According to a representative of the company, “Our uptime guarantee is 99.9%, we are so confident of this that we will give you a month’s hosting credit if we do not meet this, you will be provided a link to our status page if you sign up with us.” From what we found out, JustHost really does provide excellent uptime which is backed up by the available statistics.
JustHost Customer Support: 24/7 Live Technical Support
JustHost offers support for their customers via email, live chat and phone and also provides a knowledgebase with answers to frequently asked questions. A nice feature on their help page is the status of each option, telling you at a glance if a representative is currently available and how long you can expect to wait. The interface is nicely done, with a clean look, and it’s easy to use. Our experience with them is a pleasant one with English speaking support who had solved our DNS problem in 10 minutes of live chatting session.
This all sounds good on paper, but how well in general do support reps of JustHost perform? According to many customer reviews, not so good. Although most of the issues reported concern billing (even though the company offers an “anytime money back guarantee”), there are others who complain about downtime and sluggish customer service response time. The biggest problems seem to be with large or corporate, bandwidth-hogging sites.
Conclusions: Is JustHost Web Hosting Recommended?
However, JustHost, as with any other website hosting service, isn’t perfect. Here are the most glaring problems we found with JustHost:
Do you want to give JustHost a try? Remember, you can cancel your account at any time and receive a refund for your hosting fees (not applicable for fees paid to providers outside of JustHost) so there’s not much to lose if you decide their hosting plan isn’t right for you. With one of the lowest prices available, it’s an economical provider of reliable hosting for your small site.
